SHOULD YOU WEIGH YOUR FOOD?
LEANING UP FOR FALL : PART 6 I know most people’s reaction to this question. No dam way am I weighing or measuring food, that’s way too much dam work. Well, how do you know what your eating? How many calories, how much protein or carbs? You don’t… guaranteed! I have tested this out many times with clients. Trying doing it once, exactly how you normally eat. Then figure out how many calories and what the breakdown is with protein and carbs. You likely eat way to much fat, too much carbs, no where near enough protein. Any serious or pro athlete in particular around any type of competition, for sure weighs and measures their food. They also log what they eat, their weight, body measurements, and log their workouts. How else will you know how to fine tune your physique? Should I drop some carbs, or do more cardio? Most athletes will prepare several meals all at once, which is less work, and you are less likely to cheat and keep your goals on track!
You don’t have to do this forever, but at least to get started if your trying to loose weight, or get those abs to pop! Very experience athletes can very accurately measure by eye, but usually don’t when it comes time getting ready for a show or to achieve a specific goal. Give it a try. Here is how to start; weigh yourself, take your body measurements. Build a meal plan, and see how in 1 week how much of a transformation you will have! Athletes, typically do this for 12-16 weeks out before a show. You can do it just to get ready to go to a beach or a special event!
If you need to know some measurements, weight, calories, protein, carbs etc. of different foods – We recently posted some handy charts you can use. Look at “Leaning up for Fall” Part 1 is on carbs, Part 2 is on protein.
Now let’s do it! Come on you know you can!
