So your training hard, looking good, getting in shape, eating lot’s of protein, including a ton of egg’s. Alright, so now you’re in the grocery store, and the egg section has grown. There are so many types! Natural Farm Fresh, Organic, Omega -3, and many more! (oh yeah, there are still good old regular eggs). I did notice a significant price difference between each group, so I tried all of them to see if there was any difference.
I really didn’t notice any difference, except “some” Omega eggs. Brighter orange yolk, and slightly tastier. On the down side, I had some of the higher Omega eggs, that were really bright orange, and very noticeably tastier…except often some of the eggs had a strong fishy taste. Yuk! I poach my eggs, so it’s really evident when one tastes great, and then next taste like a sardine. After a few boxes of those, at sometimes up to $6.99 a dozen for large, I am back to Walmart buying the 18 pack of EXL for $4.00 or less. Personally, I already get more than enough omega-3’s from fish oil and other sources.
I Read this really interesting report that describes in detail about each egg category by Anders Kelto at NPR News. He decided to get to the bottom of what all these words really mean and spoke with Paul Shapiro, the vice president of the Humane Society. His report may shock you, how misleading these labels are. Anders Kelto does this report informatively, but in a very humorous way. Nice job!
